Thorn Academy of Light Thorn Lighting's Academy of Light (TAL) has been established to provide harmonised company-wide education and training, firstly for employees but eventually for customers too. The company attaches great importance to training and believes in the need to create public awareness of the varied career opportunities it offers. The vision is to create places where Thorn employees and customers can learn and experience lighting, focussing on specific products, applications and techniques. The Thorn Academy of Light is established in a dedicated competence sharing centre at Spennymoor, northeast England, with a satellite in Les Andelys, France devoted to outdoor lighting. Up to 100 customers and staff can visit the newly opened Spennymoor centre, being able to experience light at work, view exhibitions and attend workshops and CPD seminars, all in the aim of ensuring that those engaged in the built environment and public realm have a good working knowledge of professional lighting. |
