With experience of lighting some of the biggest names in sport, Thorn can provide the perfect lighting solution for any indoor sporting facility. Lighting sporting events and facilities brings in a host of considerations, including lighting the field of play for both sportsperson and spectator alike, avoiding obtrusive light that may impede a player's performance, and ensuring that there is correct and sufficient safety lighting to allow movement of players and viewers in an emergency.

Imagine trying to see, let alone stop a 170 gram (6 oz) chunk of vulcanised rubber, travelling at nearly 160 km/h (100 mph). This was just one of the aspects considered when planing the lighting for the Malmö Arena, a 12,500-seater, multi-purpose indoor stadium

All lit up at The Snow Centre
Britain’s latest indoor real snow slope – The Snow Centre at Hemel Hempstead, is a spectacular attraction by any standards. Constructed by Sir Robert McAlpine the building boasts a 160m long, 30m wide, main run of real snow for regular skiers and boarders and a 100m nursery slope for beginners, the largest in the UK. The difficult task of lighting it was handled using an indirect / direct floodlighting approach.
