Danish stadium get TV friendly – thanks to Thorn

With a light level of 2,200 lux, the new fluorescent lighting satisfies ever more stringent colour television requirements and ensures even and shadow-free illumination with comfortable low glare conditions for Team Tvis-Holstebro players and spectators alike.   Commenting on his home stadium, the Vest Sports Centre in Holstebro, Men’s European Championship star Lars Rasmussen says: “As a handball player, the lighting in the hall is one of the first things that you notice. We now have more light than before. The hall seems larger and during the matches things are far more lively. “

“TV-recordings of digital quality and slow-motion recordings place high demands on lighting during the broadcasting of handball matches. But with Denmark’s highest lighting level of 2,200 lux, all needs are fulfilled and the TV companies don’t need to set up additional lighting,” says Thorn lighting consultant Preben Sørensen.

The new installation comprises 200 Titus Sport luminaires employing 4 x 80W T16 lamps.

Flexible control
It’s not just the illumination level that makes the scheme unique. With the help of DALI lighting controls the installation is also extremely flexible. Each individual fitting can be programmed for different scenarios and different levels, for instance the hall can be used as a handball pitch, a boxing arena or a dance floor - for competition, training or entertainment purposes.
