Lighting companies initiate LED light engine standardisation
3 February 2010 An international group of companies from the lighting industry – including Acuity Brands Lighting, Cooper Lighting, OSRAM, Panasonic, Philips, Schréder, Toshiba, TRILUX and Zumtobel Group (Thorn's parent company) – is to initiate the formation of Zhaga, an industry-wide cooperation aimed at the development of standard specifications for the interfaces of LED light engines.

The Borough of Mäder in western Austria has cut its energy consumption on road lighting by 49 per cent while simultaneously improving illumination levels.
