CalcExpress is the latest tool from Thorn Lighting, allowing lighting designers to quickly calculate the number of luminaires needed to light a room.

Working within the Electronic Catalogue, it is convenient and easy to find out lighting requirements for a room. By selecting an Indoor Luminaire, and clicking on the CalcExpress tab, visitors can easily set the room dimensions, and with the technical details fully provided, the number of luminaires required is calculated and displayed in the Results table.

The software works on a default of a minimum of 500lx, but if you’d prefer to change this to a different figure to account for a different level of illuminance, this is easy to do as well. All you need to do within the CalcExpress page is enter the required illuminance in the lx field, and the number of luminaires will be adjusted automatically.

If in fact you want to check the illuminance of a room with a set numbers of desired luminaires, this is simple to do as well. Just enter in the number of luminaires to be used, press Return, and the illuminance will be displayed in the Results table.
