Thorn moves UK headquarters to Spennymoor, County Durham
12 October 2010 Thorn Lighting today announced proposals to relocate its UK headquarters from Borehamwood, Hertfordshire to the award winning Thorn plant in Spennymoor, County Durham, which houses 500 staff. The move is designed to improve service levels for Thorn's customers and sales force alike.

Lighting companies initiate LED light engine standardisation
3 February 2010 An international group of companies from the lighting industry – including Acuity Brands Lighting, Cooper Lighting, OSRAM, Panasonic, Philips, Schréder, Toshiba, TRILUX and Zumtobel Group (Thorn's parent company) – is to initiate the formation of Zhaga, an industry-wide cooperation aimed at the development of standard specifications for the interfaces of LED light engines.
