Tidon

Tidon boxes clever with LED options

At a time when conservation is in everyone’s mind, Thorn has introduced a new range of recessed gimbal spotlights which reduces running, cooling and maintenance costs without any loss of light. Designated the Tidon, the luminaire is of modular design in three configurations: single, twin or triple. The lighting heads can be pivoted up to 30-degress from the vertical and there is a choice of distributions, from narrow spot to wide flood. Sources range from HIT-CE-TC and HIR-CE111 metal halide (20W up to 70W) through to QR111 halogen (up to 100W) and LEDs.

Operating with eight 2.4W Cree LEDs, the solid-state version has a similar lumen output to a 100W tungsten halogen lamp with a fifth of the energy consumption. Available in superior 3000K and 4000K options, it has a rated life of 50,000 hours and is dimmable.

Tidon is eminently good looking: it can blend with office and display schemes and is ideally suited for hotels and catering uses.  A further bonus is the concentration of light in a high efficiency reflector, making it easier to control so that the spotlight delivers a higher proportion of light at display level with resulting savings in power and cooling loads.

For special tasks in offices or for retail lighting, Tidon lighting frames can be supplied with an almost limitless number of different configurations. Typical requirements might be to mix different light colours, wattages and beam angles in order to optimise the lighting effect.
