CiviTEQ wins German Design Award 2017

Maximum performance for efficient lighting solutions: The new road lantern product range CiviTEQ by Thorn combines state-of-the-art LED technology and exceptional design. With its remarkable concept, CiviTEQ succeeded in impressing the jury and was honoured with the “German Design Award 2017” in the category “Lighting”.

The “German Design Award” is an internationally known competition that emphasises the high design competence of its participants and honours unique design trends. Every year, awards are granted to high calibre products and projects as well as their manufacturers and designers, who are pioneers in the German and the international design scene.

Functionality, the proper use of materials, technical innovation and the clarity of form are the guiding ideas of the renowned designer Sven von Boetticher. In line with this approach, his studio ID AID has developed the LED road lighting solution CiviTEQ in collaboration with the lighting specialist Thorn.

“When it comes to good design, there is more that matters than simply aesthetics. CiviTEQ is a perfect example for the successful combination of form and function. We are very proud to have created such a compact but yet well-designed and innovative luminaire. This was achieved by the new arrangement of the LED module and a specially developed integrated cooling system”, says Sven von Boetticher, designer and CEO ID AID.

CiviTEQ is an LED road lantern product range that offers performance and provides a value for money lighting solution for any urban installation layout. It features versatile installation possibilities as well as a comprehensive range of controls that contribute to an easy and effective handling. The compact and lightweight road lighting lantern is fitted with an Optibloc® double IP66 sealing system for the gear compartment and optic. This ensures longevity and performance throughout the luminaire’s lifetime of > 100 000 hours as well as low maintenance requirements. CiviTEQ is available in two sizes with 12 precise light distributions and an output of up to 17klm. It is suitable for both post-top mounting as well as side-entry mounting.
