The Thorn Energy Partnership (TEP)
is a worldwide venture between
Thorn and lighting professionals. The
overriding aim is to promote energy
efficiency without sacrificing good
lighting performance. By 2015, the
TEP expects to save more than 25,000
tonnes of CO

– and you can be part
of that achievement.
Gives you the payback period and
ROI figure by calculating lamp burning
hours, energy costs, maintenance costs
and energy savings.
CalcExpress is an online tool that
allows you to approximately calculate
the number of luminaires required for
square rooms. It allows simple regular
arrays of luminaires. The calculation is
based on room size, mounting height
and the height of the working plane
as well as on the illuminance level
required on the working surface.

Migration
Identifying and moving away
from inefficient lighting.
Light source:
Changing discharge lamps for
fluorescents, and fluorescents for
LEDs, while ensuring the correct
lamp for the environment.
Control gear:
Using control gear which is high
frequency and compatible with
regular switching to reduce and
conserve energy.
Luminaire:
Using the correct luminaire to
house the lamp and control gear to
manage heat output and maximise
light output.
